El fotógrafo Ryan McGinley nació en 1977 en Ramsey, New Jersey. Estudió Diseño Gráfico en la Escuela Parsons y actualmente vive en Nueva York.
En 1999 envió a 100 editores y artistas que admiraba, un libro de 50 páginas con sus fotos. El libro se titulaba "The Kids Are Alright" y consistía en fotos exuberantes y bacanales que retrataban a sus amigos de Nueva York, algunos de ellos también artistas como Dash Snow, Dan Colen y Hannah Liden.
A los 26 años se convirtió en el artista más joven en tener una exposición individual en el Museo Whitney de Nueva York.
Los íntimos retratos de artistas de graffiti, skaters y músicos revelan las subculturas de los jóvenes contemporáneos con una mirada honesta.
Para su último trabajo “I Know Where the Summer Goes” viajó por Estados Unidos con varios modelos/amigos y disparó más de 150.000 fotos de las que seleccionó 50 para este trabajo fotográfico, que se inspira en la fotografía amateur de revistas nudistas de los 60s. McGinley hablaba con sus modelos sobre el ambiente que esperaba captar cada día. El itinerario fue planeado para tener una impresionante variedad de fondos naturales y actividades, en ocasiones utilizando efectos, fuegos artificiales y máquinas de humo.

Photographer Ryan McGinley was born in 1977 in Ramsey, New Jersey. He studied Graphic Design at Parsons School and currently lives in New York.

For 26 years he became the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum in New York.
Intimate portraits of graffiti artists, skaters and musicians reveal the subcultures of young contemporary people with an honest look .
For his latest work "I Know Where the Summer Goes" he travelled around United States with several models / friends and shoted more than 150,000 photos to the 50 selected for this photographic work, which was inspired by the amateur photography of nudist magazines from the 60s . McGinley talked with his models about the climate that expected capture each day. The route was planned to have an impressive variety of natural backgrounds and activities, sometimes using effects, fireworks and smoke machines.
