British born, James studied fine art at UCA before moving to Italy. It was there that he took an interest in photography, and the immediacy of this medium changed his outlook on art. Working as an assistant to a leading advertising photographer he gained valuable experience and knowledge. 

After six years James returned to London to embark on his own career, shooting for publications such as i-D, Dazed and Confused, Art Review, Vogue, ELLE, Sunday Telegraph and established clients such as Helmut Lang, Theory, Wooyoungmi, and Takashimaya
